How Churchill and London stood up to the Nazis

Hear about London during the Blitz, the courage of ordinary people in the face of terror, and see the city through the eyes of our iconic Prime Minister.

On this extraordinary deep dive into London's past, we take in the most iconic sights in Westminster, but seen through the light of Winston Churchill and Wartime London. Hear how Parliament coped with the heavy bombing, and how the Prime Minister played a personal role in its recovery. Discover how Westminster Abbey and Big Ben took direct hits, and Churchill himself nearly lost his life while in Downing Street.

We'll then take in the famous statue of Churchill, the often overlooked church where he married Clementine, then journey through the centre of political power - Whitehall.

After paying our respects to the cenotaph and the cavalry guard who still stand sentry, we'll finish the tour by entering the most incredible museum in London - the Churchill War Rooms. Tickets are included in the tour, although you will use an audio guide to navigate this perfectly preserved time capsule from WW2. Please note your guide will not enter the museum.

Are your tours suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users?

Our tours can be adapted to suit wheelchair users or those with limited mobility – just let us know ahead of time so the guide can prepare a suitable alternative step-free route.

The only exception is our Changing the Guard tour, which requires good mobility as we march alongside the guards and we cannot avoid steps.

How early should I arrive for the walk?

Please come 10 minutes before the allotted time so that we are ready to go promptly, especially if you have decided to come without booking online. Please note that in London there are regular road closures, engineering works on the tube and other events which can easily delay your journey. Ensure you make allowances for this as we do not wait for latecomers.

What happens if I don’t turn up on time?

The Guide will leave promptly at the designated time. Although there may be an introduction to the tour, this will be brief and your guide will not answer the phone once the tour has started.

Can I book a private tour?

Sure! Our guides tend to be booked quite far in advance – especially during peak times – but please email info@funlondontours.com with your request. We tend to have more availability on shorter private tours of 1.5 – 2 hours in length. As of January 2023, prices start at £250.
