How Churchill and London stood up to the Nazis

Step into Blitz-era London, uncover stories of extraordinary resilience, and see the city as Winston Churchill saw it.

This in-depth walking tour covers iconic Westminster landmarks, reimagined through the lens of wartime London. Learn how Parliament endured bombings and how Churchill played a key role in its survival. Discover the damage to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, and how Churchill himself narrowly escaped death at Downing Street.

We'll visit the Churchill statue, the little-known church where he married Clementine, and walk through the heart of British power – Whitehall.

After paying respects at the Cenotaph and seeing the cavalry guard, the tour concludes at the Churchill War Rooms. Entry is included, and you’ll explore at your own pace with an audio guide.

Please note: the walking tour lasts 1.5 hours, then you will have time to explore the museum on your own, with a suggested duration of 1.5 hours. Your guide will not accompany you inside the museum.

Are your tours suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users?

Our tours can be adapted to suit wheelchair users or those with limited mobility – just let us know ahead of time so the guide can prepare a suitable alternative step-free route.

The only exception is our Changing the Guard tour, which requires good mobility as we march alongside the guards and we cannot avoid steps.

How early should I arrive for the walk?

Please come 10 minutes before the allotted time so that we are ready to go promptly, especially if you have decided to come without booking online. Please note that in London there are regular road closures, engineering works on the tube and other events which can easily delay your journey. Ensure you make allowances for this as we do not wait for latecomers.

What happens if I don’t turn up on time?

The Guide will leave promptly at the designated time. Although there may be an introduction to the tour, this will be brief and your guide will not answer the phone once the tour has started.

Can I book a private tour?

Sure! Our guides tend to be booked quite far in advance – especially during peak times – but please email info@funlondontours.com with your request. We tend to have more availability on shorter private tours of 1.5 – 2 hours in length. As of January 2023, prices start at £250.
