About this tour

Prepare to be immersed (metaphorically, that is!) in a world where the humble toilet becomes a portal to explore history, anthropology, art, architecture, identity, and of course, our sense of humor.

It’s the perfect day out for anyone who likes to dive a bit deeper… lifelong Londoners and first time visitors alike! One thing is for sure: you may never think about a simple visit to the lavatory the same way again!

Why this tour

From the earliest latrines through to the future of flushing your guide will take you on a whirlwind tour through the history of Britain’s public toilets, with plenty of interesting sights and practical tips along the way. You’ll answer all the questions you never knew you had… How did the Romans wipe their bottoms? Was there really a man named Thomas Crapper? How long will you spend in the smallest room in a lifetime? And why do we even call it a loo?

So, given that you will probably spend around 240 days on the toilet in your life time, it’s only reasonable to spend 90 minutes plunging into the bowels of our shared history!

Do you cater for disabilities?

At FLT we try to be as inclusive as possible, so if you have any particular disability, please email us at info@funlondontours.com beforehand and we will do our best to ensure the tour works for you.

How early should I arrive for the walk?

Please come 10 minutes before the allotted time so that we are ready to go promptly, especially if you have decided to come without booking online. Please note that in London there are regular road closures, engineering works on the tube and other events which can easily delay your journey. Ensure you make allowances for this as we do not wait for latecomers.

Tips & Gratuities

This is of course at your discretion. However, tipping is a feature of the tourist industry, and if you feel the Tour Guide has done a good job then it is appropriate.

Are your tours suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users?

Our tours can be adapted to suit wheelchair users or those with limited mobility – just let us know ahead of time so the guide can prepare a suitable alternative step-free route.

The only exception is our Changing the Guard tour, which requires good mobility as we march alongside the guards and we cannot avoid steps.

 Verified See London in a different way! I was looking for something a bit different after having done the usual big ticket items. The London Loo Tour was a great way to see the city through a new lens and walk some new routes I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. The guide was informative and friendly. I learned some interesting facts and really enjoyed the tour. It would have been better if the start time was later so we could have entered the establishment in a former public toilet where the tour ended.
