About this tour

On this deeply personal tour, we will visit the lesser-known streets, shops and buildings which played a huge role in Churchill’s life and self-image. You’ll check out the shop where he purchased his iconic cigars, stand in the military parade ground with its own hidden WW2 communications centre, visit the wine merchant with cellars running beneath the street, and take in the social clubs of which he was a member.

Hear about his relationships to his wife Clementine and President Roosevelt, his life as a young soldier, and the stories of valour and predestiny which shaped his journey to become the man of the hour.

And then for the mind blowing trip into the Churchill War Rooms. For that extra special experience you’ll be exclusively and expertly guided through London’s most atmospheric and haunting museum. As you journey through this time capsule from London in the War your guide will be able to point out details and provide all the extra insight you could hope for.

If the full schedule is unavailable, please contact info@funlondontours.com to arrange your visit.

Tour details

This is the tour for you if you wish to delve fully into Winston Churchill’s story and visit the lesser known places which he knew and loved. Rather than visit the same old places, we will take you on a deeply personal tour to explore our war leader in a more intimate way.

Your expert guide will also take you to the WW2 bunker used by Winston Churchill to plot the downfall of the Nazis. Here, your guide will point out lesser known details within the museum, offering you a wonderful insight into this extraordinary time capsule from WW2.

Happy to join a scheduled walk? The same tour runs as a Small Group Intimate Churchill’s London & War Rooms Museum.

Times & date

contact info@funlondontours.com for a private tour

What time does the tour start and finish, and where?

You will find all this information and more on the relevant tour page and also on your confirmation email.

Does the tour go ahead in the rain?

Yes, all our tours go ahead in the rain, so come prepared for the famous British weather!

One thing to note for our changing the guard tour: The British Army reserve the right to alter the changing the guard ceremony if they so wish, but will not make a decision until the event is due to start. If there is a threat of rain, your guide will inform the group of the potential impact on the ceremony. You will always see guards, but their movements may vary, and musicians may not play.

How do I recognise the Guide?

Our guide will be carrying a Fun London Tours flag.

Do you cater for disabilities?

At FLT we try to be as inclusive as possible, so if you have any particular disability, please email us at info@funlondontours.com beforehand and we will do our best to ensure the tour works for you.

When I book the tour do I need to wait for tickets to arrive in the post?

No, your confirmation email is your ticket. Just show this to the guide on the day of the tour.

How early should I arrive for the walk?

Please come 10 minutes before the allotted time so that we are ready to go promptly, especially if you have decided to come without booking online. Please note that in London there are regular road closures, engineering works on the tube and other events which can easily delay your journey. Ensure you make allowances for this as we do not wait for latecomers.

Are your tours suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users?

Our tours can be adapted to suit wheelchair users or those with limited mobility – just let us know ahead of time so the guide can prepare a suitable alternative step-free route.

The only exception is our Changing the Guard tour, which requires good mobility as we march alongside the guards and we cannot avoid steps.

Learned a lot about Churchill. Matt was great. He was very knowledgeable about the walking part of the tour.. It ended at the Churchill in World War II Westminster war rooms. That is a self guided tour so he left us at the end of the walking tour, which was explained when we booked it. He was right on time. It was truly a spectacular tour and very educational. Singer I’m saving them for you. The crowd size was small. There were only five so you were able to hear everything he was saying.

Fun and educational for the whole family! This tour was packed with Churchill/WWII history and our family of four loved it! I was a little nervous to see if my 11 and 8 year olds would like it, but it was a hit for the whole family! Our guide, Pepe, was amazing. He was so knowledgeable, personable, and gladly answered all of my 8 year old’s questions! :) This tour was just our family and the tour guide which was a nice, intimate experience. The war rooms were cool but we actually enjoyed the walking tour leading up to the war rooms even more.

Interesting and fun We had Lee as our guide and he tailored the tour perfectly around our interests, questions and events of the day. It was a real joy to learn about the history and have a change of the mounted guards in the mix. Would strongly recommend!

Tour guide Alex was full of interesting (& fun) facts about Churchill’s everyday life while we toured his fav shops. We all know Churchhill as a wartime hero, but to visit fav cigar, hat & shoemaker’s shops is to learn about his more private side & about a bit of London history too. Alex was excellent at drawing us into his daily life & habits, paralleled with the history of the neighborhood not to mention wartime London. Highly recommend this tour as an appetizer to the more serious War Rooms.

Excellent Churchill and WW2 tour Excellent tour . Really enjoyed the way the guide asked before we started how many of us were fans of Churchill , and shaped the tour accordingly . The quote “ No more champagne “ should be more widely used .

Great Experience! The tour was very informative, and we are very glad we booked it! We learned a lot. Also, if you are interesting in going to the War Rooms, I would recommend booking it about a week in advance. If not, you would have to wait about an hour to see if you could go in.

Enjoyable and informative Rosie led the tour and was fantastic, very knowledgeable with the right level of humour. She's an absolute gem! I didn't know what to expect the tour but it was very informative and gave a great insight. I could have wandered around London with Rosie giving me historical details all day. I highly recommend this tour.

1st walking tour won’t be the last! Good value for money. Tour guide Rozie was lovely. Friendly and knowledgeable about the subject. Even as someone who grew up and went to school in this country I learned facts I didn’t know. I’ve looked up other walking tours offered for my next trip to London.

Wonderful Small Group Tour! Our tour guide Pepe (Daniel) of Fun London Tours was awesome. His knowledge of the history of London, England and Churchill was very impressive! He encouraged questions and actually exceeded the 1.5-hour tour as his enthusiasm to impart his knowledge was not dampened by time constraints.

More than "keep calm and carry on" Guide was great, very informative and gave a lot of information that isn't all in the history books. My son got a lot out of it and did a school paper on the experience it was so good. A great introduction.

Lovely Lovely way to start our first trip to London. The guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. He asked what we were interested in the most and geared the tour to focus on those aspects. I really liked having a native tell me what I was looking at! Pictures are great, but having the stories behind the famous landmarks made it more meaningful I think! Thank you, we had a great time!!
