This the perfect tour to observe both foot guards and horse guards while staying away from the main crowds. It is also perfect if you like to walk at a slower pace, as we will take our time rather than marching alongside the guards (which we do on our original changing the guard tour).
If you adore horses, this is definitely your tour… And for lovers of pageantry, ceremony, grandeur and good old British pomp & circumstance, you’ll be in your element!
Note: Please bring comfortable shoes and a bottle of water with you. It can be very crowded near Buckingham Palace, particularly in summer months.
Disclaimer: The British Army can alter the date of the Guard Change Ceremony, and can change or cancel it at their discretion. No matter how bad the weather, the walk will still go ahead, as the final notification of ceremony cancellation will not be made by the British Army and police until after 10.30am. Although unlikely, the ceremony has been known to proceed in the rain before! Your guide will explain more on the day of the tour.
Yes, all our tours go ahead in the rain, so come prepared for the famous British weather!
One thing to note for our changing the guard tour: The British Army reserve the right to alter the changing the guard ceremony if they so wish, but will not make a decision until the event is due to start. If there is a threat of rain, your guide will inform the group of the potential impact on the ceremony. You will always see guards, but their movements may vary, and musicians may not play.
Our guide will be carrying a Fun London Tours flag.
This depends on the tour. All of the walks will have between 5 and 15 stops, with a 3-5 minute walk between them. The Changing The Guard tour has a three minute burst where we march at the same pace as the guards, but otherwise all our walks are rather easily paced!
It is very unlikely. The main reason for a tour being cancelled would be a major transportation issue, although this is extremely rare. The Guides live in London, so can make use of the tube and bus network and will follow up to date transport information to try to prevent any problems. Very rarely extreme weather conditions could prevent a tour going ahead, but even in heavy rain or snow tours generally continue (bring your umbrellas and ponchos if bad weather is predicted!)
There are a few rare occasions through the year where the Guard Change fails to take place for reasons out of the hands of the Tour Guide. Sometimes this will not become apparent until after the walk starts (usually due to weather conditions). In such a case the Tour Guide will continue with a modified tour. If you are not 100% satisfied with this, we will endeavour to provide you with an alternative date, tour or discount.
If a total of fewer than four people are booked onto the tour then we reserve the right to cancel. In such cases you will be sent an email/SMS and given prior notice, with the offer of a refund or alternative date.
In the event of cancellation, we will endeavour to let you know with as much notice as possible by either email or SMS and provide a full and prompt refund or offer an alternative date/tour if preferable.
At FLT we try to be as inclusive as possible, so if you have any particular disability, please email us at info@funlondontours.com beforehand and we will do our best to ensure the tour works for you.
