This is the perfect tour if you want to simply enjoy your experience without having to stress about the logistics of seeing the Change of the Guard ceremony and entering Buckingham Palace on your own. When the Palace is open, large crowds descend on the area, and the Change of the Guard ceremony is one of the busiest events in the world! So if you are to enjoy these events properly, we suggest taking a tour with a guide who can navigate you around with the minimum of stress and maximum enjoyment.
The Changing of the Guard Tour requires a good level of mobility as we will be marching alongside the Guards and there is at least one set of steps to navigate, so it is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.
Please come 10 minutes before the allotted time so that we are ready to go promptly, especially if you have decided to come without booking online. Please note that in London there are regular road closures, engineering works on the tube and other events which can easily delay your journey. Ensure you make allowances for this as we do not wait for latecomers.
The Guide will leave promptly at the designated time. Although there may be an introduction to the tour, this will be brief and your guide will not answer the phone once the tour has started.
Yes, all our tours go ahead in the rain, so come prepared for the famous British weather!
One thing to note for our changing the guard tour: The British Army reserve the right to alter the changing the guard ceremony if they so wish, but will not make a decision until the event is due to start. If there is a threat of rain, your guide will inform the group of the potential impact on the ceremony. You will always see guards, but their movements may vary, and musicians may not play.
This is of course at your discretion. However, tipping is a feature of the tourist industry, and if you feel the Tour Guide has done a good job then it is appropriate.
